This electric outboard can be supplied in four versions based on your requirements:
4.0 TS - Model - 1236-00
4.0 TL - Model - 1237-00
4.0 RS - Model - 1232-00
4.0 RL - Model - 1233-00
T = Tiller Control
R= Remote Throttle Control
S = Short Shaft
L= Long Shaft
After much demand Torqeedo have introduced a Cruise 4.0 with tiller. The 48 volt, waterproof electric outboard is capable of traveling at speeds of up to 12 knots and comparable to an 8HP outboard.
Cruise 4.0 Electric Outboard Key Features:
- more power per watt: superior overall efficiency, more range from a limited battery supply than any other outboard
- minimum weight, maximum power
- completely waterproof (IP 67)
- On-board computer with GPS based calculation of remaining range
Suitable for inflatables and other small boats. For dinghies and sailboats up to 4 tons, we recommend the Cruise 4.0 T.

Information on range and speed
For a displacement boat making way through the water, the required propulsive power increases in proportion to the cube of the speed. This means that if you want to double your speed, you need eight times as much power.
And vice-versa, a small reduction in speed is enough to increase the achievable range substantially.
The Torqeedo Cruise's on-board computer calculates the remaining range constantly, by linking the motor's consumption data with the charging level of the batteries, and the speed over the ground from the GPS. This allows you to read the remaining range in real time from the motor display or the smartphone app TorqTrac.
Battery Supply
The Cruise 4.0 requires a battery voltage of 48 V. It can be powered by 1 x Power 48-5000. In this case, the battery bank weighs only 50 kg. Alternatively, it can be powered by at least 4 lead-gel or AGM batteries. In this case, we recommend a battery capacity of at least 180 Ah for the reasons given above.
On-board computer:
The on-board computer integrated in the tiller analyses and combines information from the motor, batteries and the GPS. The motor consumption and GPS speed data are always precise. The battery information is equally precise when the Cruise is powered by the Power 48-5000 because both products communicate with each other. If the Cruise is powered by other batteries, the battery charge and remaining range indicators rely on estimates derived from the battery information entered in the system’s set-up menu during initial installation.
